HASAN ÇAĞLAYAN

HASAN ÇAĞLAYAN was born in Istanbul in 1948. He graduated high school at Robert College and received a degree in economics from Istanbul University. He embarked upon his business career while still a student and undertook duties mostly in the areas of finance, trade, and marketing in a variety of sectors. His experience in the tourism industry began as a marketing manager for the Netsel Marina in Marmaris in 1988-1991, where he was responsible for the strategic planning, initial marketing, and commissioning of the biggest privately owned marina in the eastern Mediterranean region. In 1991 Mr Çağlayan became an assistant general manager for Enternasyonal Tourism Yatırım AŞ, a tourism investment subsidiary of the Yapı Kredi bank. In that capacity he was involved in seven major projects, including the Robinson Select Club Maris, which has been in operation for six years, and the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul, a luxury hotel that was converted from an old prison and is presently in its third year of operation. After 1997 he became general manager of Martı Otelleri, a privately owned hotel chain. In December 1999 he was entitled as the general director of Uzel Tourism ve Ticaret AŞ, the strategic business unit of the Uzel Group. Mr Çağlayan is married and the father of one daughter.

ALİ HAZNEDAR

ALİ HAZNEDAR was born in Ankara in 1959. He completed his junior and senior high school education at TED Ankara College after which he graduated from the Department of Mathematics (numerical analysis) of Middle East Technical University. He received an MBA from Bosphorus University in 1986 and while studying for it he worked as an account officer for Henkel/Turyağ products at RTS Campbell-Ewald, an advertising company associated with Pars/McCann Ericsson. After completing his military service in 1986, Mr Haznedar worked for ten years as a managing partner in the Maçka and Ortaköy restaurants, establishments belonging to Ziya Turistik, a family-owned company. In 1997-1999, he served as an assistant general manager at Akdeniz Martı AŞ, a subsidiary of Marmaris Martı Otelleri AŞ. During this period he established and developed the Martı Holiday Village, whose operation is based on the time-sharing vacation concept. Ali Haznedar is presently operations manager for Uzel Tourism ve Ticaret AŞ. Married with one child, his hobbies are nature sports and cooking.
